Showbiz ends
for naked waiter

What ever happened to Butch Williams, one of the "naked waiters" who entertained patrons at the Dunes nightclub during the early '70s?

Before there were any Chippendale dancers, there was Butch Williams, the male stripper who drew thousands of women from around the island to the Dunes nightclub for the "naked waiter" revue.

"He was a superstar," said Jack Cione, the Dunes' owner and an entertainment producer in Hawaii for more than 25 years.

By last account, Williams, nearing the age of 50, was retired from the entertainment business and working as a security guard at a Miami nightclub, said Cione.

During his last conversation with Cione two years ago, the veteran Williams expressed his opinions on today's male strippers.

"He told me," Cione said with a laugh, "they don't know what they're doing."
