


Man, 41, faces murder charge in beating death
Police have charged a 41-year-old man with second-degree murder in last week's beating death of Donald Robinson in Mapunapuna.Joel Young, who has no permanent local address, is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Robinson died of internal abdominal injuries. His body was discovered Thursday on the Ewa side of the Nittaku Investment building on Nimitz Highway near Puuloa Road.
Waianae neighborhood watch group 1 year old
The Puhawai Community Farm Lots Association in Waianae is inviting residents to walk through the neighborhood to mark the anniversary of the group and its community policing unit.Walkers should meet at 9 p.m. March 7 at 86-179 Puhawai Road.
'Business Night 1998' to take place April 8
Business professionals and students will be paired off at "Business Night 1998," an April 8 event being planned by the University of Hawaii's College of Business Administration and School of Travel Industry Management.The program will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Sheraton-Waikiki Hotel.

Two Moiliili-area businesses were robbed by a man with a gun yesterday, police said.Descriptions of the suspect in both cases were similar, but investigators are not certain it's the same man. No injuries were reported. The robberies occurred about 6-1/2 hours apart.
The first robbery was reported at 4:50 p.m. at Siam Store in the 2500 block of South King St.
A female clerk, 24, told police a man entered the store, placed a backpack on the counter, took out a handgun from his waist area and demanded money.
At 11:04 p.m., the Pizza Hut at 2320 S. King St. was robbed by a man. The suspect is in his mid-30s, 5 feet 6 inches and 130-140 pounds.

Police have charged a 40-year-old man with no permanent local address for sexually assaulting a Kailua boy, police said. Jorge Martinez, 40, is charged with one count each of first- and third-degree sex assault and also first-degree burglary. He is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.
KAU, Hawaii -- A 31-year-old Big Island woman died last night after a one-car accident.
Jill Sawyer of Hawaiian Ocean View Estates was pronounced dead at 11:38 a.m. at the Kona Community Hospital.
KIHEI, Maui -- Fabian Kahaleuki, 31, of Kihei died Saturday when he was ejected from a motorcycle and struck a tree along Okolani Drive in south Maui.
