Aztecs no match
for Rainbows this time

Hawaii sweeps
San Diego State in rematch

SAN DIEGO -- Hawaii's fourth-ranked men's volleyball team gave San Diego State a different look last night and got a lot to show for it, including a 15-9, 15-9, 15-11 sweep of the Aztecs.

With Mason Kuo and Jason Salmeri in the starting lineup, spelling regular setter Jorge Perez and fourth-year front-liner Sivan Leoni, the Rainbows hardly missed a beat.

"Much, much better," UH coach Mike Wilton said of the rematch of a four-game "struggle" the previous night. "And I thought it was about the same for San Diego State. They played us tough both nights."

Salmeri had a match-high 25 kills and Kuo handed out 64 assists as UH ran its season record to 11-2 and its Mountain Pacific Sports Federation mark to 8-1. The Aztecs dropped to 2-7 overall and in the conference.

UH plays its final two road games of the MPSF season tomorrow and Friday at nearby UC San Diego, a Division III team that's struggling at 1-9, 0-8.
