OH, BABY: An amazing bit of coincidence has bonded together a half-dozen staffers at Chaminade University. Sharing the same 2/22 birthday are history Professor Larry Meacham, campus nurse Judy McMillen, communications prof Jude Yablonsky, academic advisor Marcia Bulosan, public relations director Cheryl Niggle and business office counselor Dayna Kawamura. The latter got some counseling of her own when on Saturday she felt she was about to give birth. "Just hold on for one more day," she was advised. And she did. Born 2/22/98 was Dustin Kawamura, who weighed in at 7 pounds, 14 ounces. What, pray tell, are the odds of that? They should meet annually in "Room 222" and watch reruns of that old TV show. Chaminade
baby 2/22, too
SPEAKING of babies, did you know that local publicist Bud Bowles was born in the same Iowa hospital as the McCaughey Septuplets? He called his mother to confirm the fact and her response was straightforward: "Yes, but apparently they didn't drop any of them on their heads." Thanks, Mom ...

She and her husband, "Boy," now have three other "boys" in the family, all living in Redondo Beach, Calif., where hubby is assistant coach for the Loyola Marymount baseball team. While here, she attended the 1-year baby luau for the son of yet another Mrs. Hawaii, Bella Tomas ...
Elwood Abercrombie?
ONE of the big surprises at the 50th birthday party for community service volunteer Kay Hoffman was the appearance of Rep. Neil Abercrombie dressed up like one of "The Blues Brothers" and singing some soulful blues numbers. In addition, Mayor Jeremy Harris proclaimed it "Kay Hoffman Day," citing her dedication to the community and her efforts in raising money for Gregory House Programs, which provide housing for people with AIDS ...AS of yesterday, the Honolulu Symphony already had surpassed the $100,000 mark in subscription sales for the 1998-99 season. People must be pleased with the slate of youthful performers Maestro Sam Wong has arranged to feature next season ... And despite the fact some staffers were unhappy with outgoing KHPR G.M. Anna Kosof, the recently concluded wine auction she oversaw raised twice its goal, netting $46,996 for the public radio station ... Any nonprofit groups out there need umbrellas? Dick Barber of Pacific Telecommunications Counsel is willing to donate 100 or so big ones printed with "Comsat" and "intelsat." They were left over from a recent conference. Call 941-3789 ...
The last dance
THE Kamehameha Performing Arts Company's dance concert will be held this weekend, and you can bet it's going to be impressive. The concert, "Live and Learn," is the handiwork of KPAC director Stacey Archer-Little, who also directs the terrific UH Rainbow Dancers. Erin Morita, who graduated from Kamehameha last year, is flying in to be featured in the weekend concerts. She's a dance major at San Francisco State and even did some choreography for "Live and Learn." Archer-Little continues to amaze. She's in great shape, despite having three kids under age 6. This will be her last KPAC spring dance concert, one reason Morita is flying in. But Archer-Little will continue her work with the nonprofit Hawaii Dance Alliance, which unifies the local dance community and offers dance programs aimed toward at-risk youth ...
