KAHUMOKU IN CIRCLE OF CHAMPS: Lily Kahumoku, an outside hitter for Kamehameha, has been selected as the Gatorade Circle of Champions Hawaii High School Volleyball Player of the Year.
She joins 48 other winners across the nation who are eligible for Regional and National Athlete of the Year honors, to be announced within the next week.
DESA BASEBALL TOURNAMENT: The 11th annual Joey DeSa Memorial Baseball Tournament gets underway Thursday with four games at four fields and runs through Saturday.
The opening-day games, all at 3:30 p.m.: Damien vs. Molokai at Joey DeSa Field; Kamehameha at Kailua; Waianae at Mid-Pacific; Roosevelt vs. St. Louis at Stevenson Intermediate.
PEARL HARBOR FUN RUN: A 10-kilometer fun run will be held at the Pearl Harbor Bike Path on Sunday, March 8, starting at 7 a.m.
It is the finale of the four-race Ronald McDonald "Go for the Gold" series, with proceeds to benefit the Ronald McDonald House.

NAPA SILVER CUP SERIES TO START: Hawaii Raceway Park in Kapolei opens its drag racing series for all street-legal cars, trucks and bikes Saturday with the first NAPA Silver Cup race of 1998.
The monthly event for street machines will run through December, when the top points earners will receive NAPA Silver Cups on koa wood bases, custom embroidered champion jackets and thousands of dollars in gift certificates and prizes from the sponsoring Oahu NAPA Auto Parts stores.
Gates open at 6 p.m. Qualifying runs begin at 6:30, eliminations at 8:30. The $6 admission price includes a pit pass.
CLASSIC BODYBUILDING CONTEST: The 17th annual Hawaiian Classic Bodybuilding Championship is scheduled for Sunday, March 8, at 7 p.m. in the Regency Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Waikiki.

CANADIAN CAPER: Hawaii's Youth Ice Hockey Association will send 50-60 players, ranging in age from 10-17, on three teams to play games against Vancouver, B.C., teams from March 23-30 in the Canadian city.
