She shot .750 (15-for-20) from the field and was 7-for-8 from the foul line as UH extended its winning streak to 18 games.
CLAVON PAC WEST STANDOUT: Darnell Clavon, who paced Chaminade in a pair of Pacific West Conference victories in Alaska last week, was named the Pac West Player of the Week yesterday.
Clavon, a 6-foot-1 senior guard, averaged 21.5 points and five rebounds per game as the Silverswords downed Alaska-Fairbanks and Alaska-Anchorage, ending a 15-game conference losing streak on the road.
KAMEHAMEHA SOFTBALL CHAMP: Kelly Kaaihili pitched a one-hitter and struck out 11 as Kamehameha defeated Lahainaluna, 1-0, Sunday night to win the Hawaii High School Athletic Association softball championship at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
It was the first softball title for Kamehameha (18-1) since 1994. The Warriors have won six state titles overall.
It was the first appearance in a state title game in any sport for Lahainaluna.
IOLANI, MILILANI CASTLE SWIM WINNERS: Iolani swept the ILH boys' and girls' swimming championships for the second time in three years on Saturday at the Kamehameha Schools' pool.
Meanwhile, Mililani won the OIA boys' title and Castle took the girls' crown at Kalani High the same day.
The Iolani girls, with Jill Ono and Sara Afong each winning two individual events, beat Punahou, 100-81.
But the tighter boys' meet came down to the last relay -- the 400-yard freestyle. Nathaniel Dean, Michael Nakada, Mark Uyemura and John Nakayama clocked 3:23.86 to clinch the meet victory for the Raiders, 83-80.
Iolani won eight boys' and eight girls' events.
The last time Iolani swept the league was 1996, when the Raiders also swept the state meets.
The Trojan boys won their meet handily with 213 points to Kalaheo's 135. The Knights girls were also comfortable with 221.50 points to runner-up Mililani's 195.
The Hawaii High School Athletic Association swim meet will be held at Pahoa Community Center on the Big Island on Feb. 27-28.
SPLIT FOR SEA WARRIORS: Brian Dawson scattered eight hits and struck out 10, pitching California Baptist to a 6-1 victory over Hawaii Pacific for a split of their doubleheader yesterday at Riverside, Calif.
Lee Anzai doubled twice and drove in four runs and Mark Sylvester had a single, a homer and three RBIs as the Sea Warriors won the opener, 16-6.
Hawaii Pacific, 4-4, was to take on Cal Riverside today.
WOODING, MCKAY LPGA QUALIFIERS: Michelle Wooding and Mhairi McKay qualified yesterday for the 54-hole LPGA Cup Noodles Hawaiian Ladies Open that will be held Thursday through Sunday at the Kapolei Golf Course.
Wooding led all qualifiers with a 6-under 66 and McKay shot a 70 as 13 players competed for the two spots that completed the 144-player field.
