Fourteen-year-old Jason Bullock wants to follow his heart's desire and be a cardiovascular surgeon someday. A future doctor in the house
Cardiovascular medicine is an exciting field, brimming with new technology, said Bullock, eighth-grade student council president. "It just appeals to me, because I've had heart problems in the past with asthma."
While undergoing treatment, he met with a few cardiologists who shared their knowledge about new and innovative medical procedures.
Bullock, who has a perfect 12.0 GPA, said his favorite subjects are math and science. He's the only student taking geometry, the highest level of math offered at the school.
Among his notable accomplishments, Bullock won first place in the school's National Geographic spelling bee contest last year. In June, he won an award from Johns Hopkins University for scoring high on his SATs.
Principal Mary Wehmiller said Bullock is well-respected among his peers for his academic accomplishments and involvement in community service.
"He has a good regard for other people and a good Christian attitude about wanting to help people," qualities that would make him a good doctor someday, Wehmiller said.
Bullock said he wants to attend medical school at Harvard or Johns Hopkins. The main thing is "to use the abilities from God, to serve God and do whatever my purpose in life is," he said.
