Wearing a new hat at HAATA

The Hawaii Activities and Tours Association, representing over 40 firms and 10,000 employees, has chosen Peter Gellatly as its new chairman. Membership includes travel agents, attractions, transportation and visitor media.

"In the legislative session, HAATA's priorities will include a severe reduction in crime in Waikiki, the enhancement of Waikiki's aesthetics, and strong endorsement of political candidates who are supportive of a healthy, vibrant visitor industry," Gellatly said.

Gellatly is president of Network Media, which provides information to tourists in print and over nine television channels which go into Waikiki hotel rooms. His industry experience also includes nine years at Spotlight Hawaii Publishing Co.

Gellatly earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy cum laude from the University of Michigan.
