Other previous champions in the event are two-time winners Lance Suzuki and Greg Meyer, Kevin Hayashi, Aki Ohmachi, amateur Damien Jamila and David Ishii, who won six times.
Joe Root, the 1997 Aloha Section PGA player of the year, state open champion Brian Sasada, Mike Pavao, Dean Wilson, Todd Fisher and Keith Kollmeyer are among the top local entrants. Leading amateurs include Brandan Kop, Stan Souza, Guy Yamamoto and Regan Lee.
The field also will include former tour players Todd Dempsey and Kawika Cotner, collegiate All-Americans Christopher Hanell and Scott Johnson from Arizona State and Steve Irwin, son of three-time U.S. Open champion Hale Irwin.
As part of the Hawaii Pearl Open's 20th anniversary festivities there will be a pro-am, a long-driving exhibition by Monte Scheinblum, a former national long-drive champ, and clinics by Pearl Country Club pros Ishii and Meyer.

DALY, WADKINS, BEAN IN SHOOT-OUT: John Daly, Lanny Wadkins and Andy Bean have been added to the Johnny Bellinger Shoot-Out, completing the 12-player field for the event next Tuesday at the Waialae Country Club.
They will join last year's winner Jim Furyk, Paul Azinger, David Ishii, Steve Jones, Tom Lehman, John Morse, Scott Simpson, Craig Stadler and Paul Stankowski in the six-hole event.
Stankowski is the defending champion in the $1.8 million United Airlines Hawaiian Open, which begins next Thursday.

HPU NO. 7, BYUH 10: Both of Hawaii's NAIA men's basketball teams are now ranked in the Top 10 of the latest national poll. Hawaii Pacific (15-3) stayed at No. 7 and BYU-Hawaii (13-4) jumped three spots to 10th.
The Sea Warriors rank 14th in the country in scoring margin (15.06) and are tied for 14th in free throw percentage (.727). HPU point guard Shannon Lee is No. 10 in assists per game (6.7).
The Seasiders are sixth nationally in scoring offense (94.76) and eighth in field goal percentage (.515). BYU-Hawaii is also eighth in 3-point percentage (.410) and 13th in scoring margin (15.18).
LUCAS CITED: J.J. Lucas of Hawaii Pacific was named the player of the week by the Hawaii Intercollegiate Athletic Conference yesterday.
The senior center had 27 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists in last week's HIAC victory over Hawaii-Hilo.
SMALLEY MOVES UP: Hawaii Pacific senior guard Llewellyn Smalley became the Sea Warriors' all-time leading scorer last weekend, surpassing the career mark of 1,597 points set by John Strickland.
Smalley, a second-team NAIA All-American last season, now has 1,638.
