UH men’s volleyball team
to play three in California

The fifth-ranked University of Hawaii men's volleyball team takes its perfect league record on the road this week with three matches in California.

The Rainbows (4-1, 2-0) continue Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play at No. 11 UC Santa Barbara (0-2, 0-2) tomorrow. On Thursday, Hawaii is at No. 15 Loyola Marymount (1-2, 1-2) and then take on No. 14 Cal State Northridge (2-3, 0-3) on Friday.

All matches begin at 5 p.m. HST and can be heard live on KCCN 1420-AM.

The next home match for Hawaii is Feb. 11, the first of two matches with George Mason.

SUN DEVILS ROLL: At Kona, the Arizona State Sun Devils blanked the University of Hawaii at Hilo, 14-0, in a nonconference baseball game yesterday at Simmon's Field.

Chad Pennington, Aaron Kramer and Chuck Crumpton combined to two hit Vulcans (1-13).

Mikel Morena and Dustin Delucchi each had three RBIs to lead ASU (8-0) to a sweep of the five-game series.

SENIOR TENNIS CIRCUIT: The Hawaii Pacific Tennis Association will launch its Senior Tennis League in March on Oahu, Maui and the Big Island.

Each team will play each other team in three doubles matches. Men and women can compete at the 4.5, 4.0, 3.5 and 3.0 levels.

Team entry fee is $135.

All players must be members of the U.S. Tennis Association and be at least 50 years old by the end of 1998. To sign up for USTA membership, call 1-800-990-8782. To obtain a necessary NTRP rating and/or be placed on a team, call Connie or Moana at 955-6696.
