Donald J. Carvalho, 59, of Hilo, a warehouse driver for HT&T Co., died Saturday in Hilo Hospital. He was also a professional musician. Born in Hilo, he is survived by wife Kiyoko “Laraine”; sons Russell T., Mark S., Allen T. and Don N. Carvalho and Gregory K. Minato; daughters Teresa “Missy” Carvalho, Susan K. Okubo, Karin M. Daranciang and June A. Nakamura; brothers Wilbert T., Francis, Gordian, William R. and Clement G.; sisters Blosom Lyman, Geraldine Shuman, Mary J. Young Soon Choi, 79, of Hilo, a president for a credit union in Korea, died Tuesday in Life Care Center of Hilo. Herbert M. “Herb” Costello, 76, of Honolulu, a retired electronics technician with the U.S. Department of Defense, died last Thursday in Queen’s Hospital. Gladys T. Kashiwaeda, 71, of Honolulu, a retired clerk, died Friday at home. Benjamin “Kaimalino” Kema, 48, of Waikiki Beach, died Saturday on Waikiki Beach. Harry W. Lane, 76, of Honokaa, Hawaii, a retired colonel in the U.S. Air Force, died Dec. 10 in North Hawaii Community Hospital in Waimea.
