"ReefQuest" introduces viewers to reef dwellers.



Return to the reefs

New episodes of the 10-part "KidScience: ReefQuest" series begin airing in Hawaii schools at 9:15 a.m. Thursday.

The state Department of Education science series for grades four through six explores underwater reefs and their inhabitants around the world. Shows are broadcast simultaneously to classrooms across the country, allowing students nationwide to participate in experiments and projects through the Internet.

For viewers not enrolled in such classes, Hawaii Public Television rebroadcasts each episode at 10 a.m. on KHET/PBS the Saturday after it is shown to schools.

"ReefQuest: Reef Revisited" will be shown for home viewers Jan. 31, "The Reef and Us" on Feb. 7, "Reefs in Peril" on Feb. 14, "Global Change and the Reef" on Feb. 21 and "Living with the Reef" on Feb. 28.
