


The Kaiser High girls team and Mililani High boys team both return to defend their titles when the Oahu Interscholastic Association's soccer tournaments start this week. OIA soccer tournaments
start this weekThe boys tournament begins Wednesday with the top four seeds, Mililani, Kalaheo, Kaiser and Moanalua, getting byes into Friday's quarterfinals.
The girls' tournament starts Thursday and the top four seeds, Pearl City, Kaiser, Castle and Mililani, get byes into Saturday's quarterfinals.
Semifinals will be played next week (Feb. 3 for the boys and Feb. 4 for the girls) and the championship games will be Saturday, Feb. 7 at Pearl City High for both.
GIRL SCOUT NIGHT: All Girl Scouts and their leaders will be admitted to the University of Hawaii women's basketball game against Nevada-Las Vegas Feb. 7 free with identification.
Only Girl Scouts will participate in the Victoria Ward Center's halftime shoot-out that night.
Girls Scouts also are selling ticket vouchers for the Feb. 7 and Feb. 12 (vs. Texas Christian) games. The Girl Scouts receive $2 for each ticket they sell.
WOMEN-ONLY 10K RACE: The 21st Straub Hawaii Women's 10K Run/Walk, only all-female sanctioned race in the state, will be held March 1, starting at 7 a.m. in Kapiolani Park.
More than 1,800 runners and walkers, ages 6 and up, are expected to take part over the 6.2-mile course. Rachel Graybill was last year's winner in 37 minutes, 13 seconds.
The cost is $25 per person by Feb. 21, $30 for entries postmarked after Feb. 21 and $35 for registration on race day. Group rates are available.

ULTIMATE HAPPENING IN WAIMANALO: The 11th annual Kaimana Klassik Ultimate Disk Tournament, with play in Wahine Open and Kane Open divisions, is Feb. 14-16 at the Waimanalo Polo Fields. Starting time each day is 8:45 a.m.
Player registration (cost is $115 per player) and a dinner are scheduled for Feb. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the field. Opening ceremonies will include a traditional Hawaiian blessing, hula dancing and island-style music. There also will be live entertainment on the nights of Feb. 14-15.
