McGee helps Kaiser turn back McKinley

Kauna'oa McGee scored five of his game-high 18 points in fourth quarter as Kaiser held off a furious rally by the Tigers to win its Oahu Interscholastic Association game, 58-56, at the Cougars' gym last night.

McKinley trailed, 32-12, at halftime but Geno Doyle and Brandon Tamasoa fueled the Tigers' comeback effort, each scoring six points during a 27-point fourth quarter.

Jesse Yoshino and Ryan Liddle added 11 points apiece for the Cougars, who won their first game of the season after opening with three losses.

Tamasoa and Doug Roberts each finished with 11 points for McKinley.

n Kalaheo 79, Farrington 44: At Kalaheo, Julian Sensley scored 19 points to lead the Mustangs over the Farrington Governors.

The 6-foot-7 sophomore center had seven first-half points as Kalaheo broke out to a 44-26 lead.

Levon Freeman and Ryan Hogue added 10 points each for the Mustangs.

Ross Silva had 14 for Farrington and Vincent Manuwai added 10.

Kahuku made six of nine free throws in fourth quarter and the Peters brothers, Joe and Hyrum, each hit a 3-pointer to keep it close.

Roosevelt hit seven treys in all, four by Lozano.

Chad Kalilimoku added 11 points for the Rough Riders, while Sein McKissen had 10.

Tavo Toatai lead the RedRaiders with 14 points, followed by Joe Peters with 13 and Nick Appleby with 10.
