Ljungquist
national finalist

Former University of Hawaii volleyball star Angelica Ljungquist is one of 10 women nominated for the 1997 Honda-Broderick Cup, which is awarded annually to the outstanding collegiate woman athlete of the previous year.

Ljungquist, from Sweden, became UH's first four-time All-American in any sport after her senior season in 1996. She also was the Wahine's first academic All-American.

The other finalists are Cindy Daws of Notre Dame (soccer), Chamique Holdsclaw of Tennessee (basketball), Trinity Johnson of South Carolina (softball), Lilia Osterloh of Stanford (tennis), Kristine Quance of USC (swimming), Amy Skieresz of Arizona (cross country, track and field) and Cindy Wreley of North Carolina (field hockey).

BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Hawaiian Classic Bodybuilding Championships are scheduled for March 8 at 7 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Regency Ballroom.

Competition will be in no-vice men, open women and masters men (35 and older) divisions.

Guest posers include Dorian Yates, a six-time Mr. Olympia, Ernie Taylor, Mike Matarazzo and Melissa Coates, the 1997 Jan Tana Classic champion.
