Dowsett oversees resort's renovation

Terry C. Dowsett has returned to Maui to be general manager of the Embassy Vacation Resort-Kaanapali Beach, as the resort gets an $8 million face-lift.

The work started on Nov. 14 and will continue into next year, Dowsett said.

"We're doing over 30 projects, and this involves the full scope including all rooms, all public areas," he said. "We're reconceptualizing the sense of place to create a more Hawaiian atmosphere."

Dowsett has worked 19 years in the Hawaii hotel industry including the past nine years as general manager of the Outrigger Prince Kuhio Hotel in Waikiki. He also has worked at the Ilikai Hotel, the Kaanapali Alii condominium, and for Sheraton at the Royal Hawaiian, Sheraton Maui and other hotels in Hawaii.

He earned a bachelor's degree in hotel/restaurant management and marketing from Florida State University.
