"With the downturn in (large) construction we're promoting concrete for housing and long-lasting pavements," Guptill said.
Guptill has worked at Hawaiian Cement for more than 10 years and is currently manager of quality control.
He also worked for Western Pacific Construction Materials in Portland, Ore., and in materials testing for the Oregon Department of Transportation
Guptill is chairman of the American Concrete Institute's committee on measuring, mixing and transporting concrete and serves on the institute's committee on high-strength concrete. He also serves on the American Standard Testing Materials' committee on standard specifications for ready-mixed concrete.
