"One of the best kept secrets at the University of Hawaii is the Asia-Pacific expertise," Kinnicutt said. "My job is to get the word out."
The college of business administration is taking advantage of opportunities in the global economy to attract executives.
Twenty-one percent of the master's degree students in the business college are from outside the United States.
Kinnicutt, with 30 years in Hawaii marketing, most recently was one of three "co-managing" directors of the Hawaii office of the Ogilvy & Mather advertising/marketing agency.
He has a bachelor's degree in history and literature from Williams College and a masters's degree in business administration from the University of Hawaii.
