Star-Bulletin staffAdam Kennedy stroked two singles and a double, driving in three runs, as the Hilo Stars beat the Honolulu Sharks, 5-2, last night in a Hawaii Winter Baseball game at Francis Wong Stadium. Kennedy broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run double in the seventh inning and scored an insurance run on Derek Baker's single.
Honolulu's Robert Fick extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a single and double.
Stingrays 5, CaneFires 0: At Hans L'Orange Park in Waipahu, Maui pitcher Darrin Babineaux, who made his first start of the season with a league-leading 0.65 earned run average, blanked West Oahu for five innings before two relievers completed a two-hit shutout.
The CaneFires did not reach base after the fourth inning.
