Takanonami was in trouble from the opening charge as Oginishiki quickly established a double underarm belt hold and hoisted the ozeki back and out.
Their losses left them tied for the lead with yokozuna Takanohana.
Takanohana dispatched Kaio with a shoving attack.
Yamato (Hawaii's George Kalima, 4-5) threw Mainoumi over the edge of the ring after Mainoumi's trademark leaping and slapping techniques failed to throw him off balance.
Konishiki (Hawaii's Salevaa Atisanoe) powered out Shikishima directly from the opening charge, using an overarm hold and leaving Shikishima no room to dodge or feint. Both are 5-4.
