spikers win titleSEA WARRIORS BOW IN REGIONAL: The Western Washington men's soccer team edged Hawaii Pacific, 1-0, yesterday at Blaine, Wash., on a second-half goal by Scot Swanson, eliminating the Sea Warriors from the NAIA Pacific Northwest Sectional playoffs.
They ended their season at 10-4-1.
WAIKOLOA GOLF WINNERS: England's Barry Lane of the PGA European Tour and his amateur partner, Dick Barnes of the Country Club of Waterbury, Conn., defeated PGA Tour player Tommy Tolles and amateur Ed McNaughton of the Waialae Country Club, 1-up, yesterday to win the third annual Waikoloa Hilton TieBreaker.
Lane pocketed $50,000.
The TieBreaker, played on the Waikoloa Beach Resort Kings' Course, is a one-day, 36-hole event (four nine-hole matches). It pairs 16 touring pros with 16 single-digit handicap amateurs from around the world.
Last Sunday, on Waikoloa's Beach and Kings' courses, Dan Bohen of the Salinas Golf and Country Club and Ed Marinucci of the San Francisco Olympic Golf Club edged the team of Lloyd Meisels of the TPC at Eagle Trace and Mike Corrigan of the TPC at Summerlin to win the eighth annual Waikoloa Kings' Cup championship.
The Bohen-Marinucci team had a team low net of 265, to 271 for Meisels and Corrigan.
Meisels had an individual low gross of 217 for 54 holes. He and Corrigan were the low-gross team champs at 295.
Individual low-net honors went to Steve Nicklaus at 203.
LUM, PUTZULU TAKE GOLD MEDALS: Bill Lum, 66, of Honolulu won two gold medals and Salvatore L. Putzulu, 70, of Wahiawa won another in the table tennis competition at the 11th Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah.
About 3,900 senior athletes from 50 states and 28 countries competed in 17 events.
KARATE-DO MEETS: The 38th annual All Hawaii State Karate-Do Championships and the Honolulu International Karate-Do Championships will be held Sunday, Nov. 23 at the Halawa District Park Gym.
Tournament events include kata (forms), kobudo (weapons) and kumite (sparring).

CANADA LAWN BOWLERS VISIT: Some 45 Canadian lawn bowlers have joined counterparts from Hawaii for a four-day tournament beginning today at the Ala Moana Regional Park grounds, on the ewa end of McCoy Pavilion.
The other playing dates are Friday, Nov. 14; Monday, Nov. 17; and Wednesday, Nov. 19.
TSUNAMI EXHIBITIONS: The Hawaii Tsunami will play exhibition games against the Lanikai Men's Soccer Team Nov. 28-29 at the Kaiser High School stadium, at 8 p.m..
The games will be preceded each night by a 6 p.m. match between the Hawaii Tsunami girls' 14-and-under team and the Maui Roadrunners.
