Zhen cosmetics
The Zhen line features colors like mocha,
claret and moonbeam.

Makeup line is designed
for Asian skin tones

If foundations with names like "Honey Beige" and "Ivory" just don't blend in with your skin tone, you might want to take some time this week to check out a line of products designed for Asian coloring.

Zhen cosmetics, previously available only by catalog, is expanding into the retail market by way of makeup counters at JCPenney stores.

Susan Yee, founder and president of Zhen (pronounced Jen), created her makeup line for "Asian skin tones and women with yellow to pink undertones in their complexion."

The products are billed as dermatologist tested, animal friendly, hypo allergenic and sensitivity tested. Prices range from $10 for lipstick to $15 to $25 for foundations and powders. They can be ordered from home by calling 1-800-457-8455, or via the Internet at http://www.dgi.net/zhen. Free catalogs are available through the toll-free number and the Web site.

Yee and Zhen makeup artists will be in the cosmetic departments of selected JCPenney stores this weekend giving free makeovers.

They'll be available at these JCPenney locations (space is limited):

1-7 p.m. Friday at Pearlridge, call 488-0961

Noon-6 p.m. Saturday at Ala Moana, call 946-8068

Noon-5 p.m. Sunday at Kaahumanu Center, Kahului, call 1-808-877-4004

Noon-6 p.m. Nov. 16 at Prince Kuhio Plaza, Hilo, call 1-808-959-0229.
