
Monday, October 20, 1997 Actor Jason Scott Lee gets scary in "Spooktacular," an evening of music with the Honolulu Symphony, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31, at Blaisdell Concert Hall. Lee will narrate works of Glenn Grant and Francis Ruivivar will sing music from "Phantom of the Opera," "Night on Bald Mountain," "Psycho" and "Jaws" for the Halloween concert, Symphony hosts 'Spooktacular'
Prizes will be awarded for best costumes. The grand prize is two round-trip tickets to Las Vegas with three-nights and four days of accommodations at the MGM Grand Hotel. Second-place prize is two nights at the Kapalua Bay hotel for a family of up to four, and round-trip airfare from Honolulu on Aloha Airlines.

crafty cultural affairThe festival is in conjunction with the exhibition "From Bento to Mixed Plate: Americans of Japanese Ancestry in Multicultural Hawai'i." The event includes hands-on craft demonstrations and performances by a children's taiko ensemble.

The exhibition examines the way Japanese-American identity has changed with the influences of other cultures that the Japanese Americans found here.
