begins sailing from KauaiA new 61-foot catamaran will start tour operations from Kauai's Nawiliwili Harbor next month, offering daytime snorkel outings and evening dinner cruises. The HoloHolo, designed by Kevin Millet of Kauai and Kurt Hughes Designs of Seattle, will be based at the waterfront Anchor Cove Shopping Center.
Powered by twin 350 h.p. Cummins turbo diesel engines, the HoloHolo will go as fast as 30 knots, its builders said. It will carry up to 65 passengers and up to five crew members.
Millet is president of HoloHolo Charters and will run the day to day operations while his wife Marcie runs the sales office and visitor marketing.
Millet said the vessel is the first on Kauai capable of taking tourists on round-the-island trips or handling convention-size groups.
Anchor Cove, a new shopping center, is 90 percent leased, said the agent, Chaney Brooks Realty.
