Staging fundraisers for the stage

Charmeen H. Wing will use 15 years of fund-raising experience to help the Hawaii Theatre Center.

"My first priority is to raise money to restore the facade of the theatre. The estimate is $2 million," Wing said.

For the past three years, she was director of marketing and fund development for the University of Hawaii College of Business Administration.

She is a member of the National Society of Fundraising Executives and on the board of managers for Sacred Hearts Academy.

Wing also has been executive vice president at the Jefferson Center for Character Education, and managing director of the East West Players in Los Angeles, an Asian-American theatre company.

She worked for the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank and was public affairs director for KLSX-FM.
