I know that neither the convention center nor Neiman-Marcus will be up and running for awhile, but I would be interested in working for either outlet. Where can I send a resume? Also, is the convention center going to be a union operation? Check newspaper ads
for jobs at center, storeFor the former, send resumes to Hawaii Convention Center, c/o Spectacor Management Group, 1833 Kalakaua Ave., Suite 608, Honolulu 96815.
Spectacor, which will manage the center once it opens, is discouraging both walk-ins and phone calls because of limited staff and parking.
The best bet is to check the newspaper ads, said office manager Sandy Ishikawa. Job openings have been advertised over the past year as they have come up, she said. The ads usually run in the Sunday newspaper and sometimes on Wednesdays.
A variety of positions are or will be opening, but "we are still in the stages of planning what type of staff is needed," Ishikawa said. That includes deciding which jobs will be permanent and which state-contracted.
It's not yet known whether it will be a union shop, she added.
As for Neiman-Marcus, if you're looking for an executive position, you can mail your resume to corporate offices in Texas: 1618 Main St., Dallas 75201.
For sales and other positions, people are hired at the local level, said Al Tomonari, general manager of the Neiman-Marcus store that's set to open next year in the Ala Moana Center.
Job openings won't be advertised until next spring, he said. Be on the lookout for ads.
