'Voices' will rise
in native tribute

Dancer Rob Greyhill, storyteller Gayle Ross and recording artist Douglas Spotted Eagle will be among the performers starring in "Voices of Native America" Saturday at Leeward Community College Theatre.

The concert -- a celebration of Native American culture, past and present -- takes place 8 p.m. Oct. 4. The three lead performers will be backed by the nine-member Dancing Voices Ensemble.

Tickets are $17.50 for adults and $15 for students, seniors and military, available at the LCC box office. Tickets may also be charged by phone with no service fee. Call 455-0385 for more information.

Bowlers help support arts

Bowlers with a philanthropic streak can take part in a Rock & Bowl fund-raising event 4 to 9 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Fort Shafter Bowling Center.

Bowl to music and neon lights, in the company of the cast of "Dreams! In Color," 23 talented young children.

The event benefits Center for the Arts, Inc., a nonprofit organization formed to educate and perpetuate the fine and performing arts in Hawaii.

Ween added to Los Lobos bill

Quirky musical artists Ween will be the special guests for the Los Lobos concert Oct. 18 at Nimitz Hall.

For the mulish

Man and mule meet face to face once again in the 6th Great Moloka'i Mule Run.

The contest of wills takes place 10:30 a.m. Saturday in downtown Kaunakakai as part of the island's Aloha Festivals celebration. Teams will attempt to pull or otherwise coax the mules 200 yards to cross a finish line for the "Grand Muleskinner Award."
