Keeping government ties healthy

Phyllis J. Baumwell Dendle will assist Chris Pablo, Kaiser Permanente's public affairs manager, with government relations, coordinating public policy analysis and general corporate communications.

"One of the issues we continue to look at is coordinated care for workers' compensation," Dendle said. "It's a form of managed care where doctors and other medical professionals work to get the employee back to work as quickly as they can."

She most recently was associate director at the Oahu Economic Development Board. Dendle also worked eight years at the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii directing government relations. She also worked with the Neighborhood Commission, then-Rep. Les Ihara Jr. (now a state senator) and then-City Councilman Leigh-Wai Doo.

Dendle earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and master's degree in American Studies from the University of Hawaii.
