for daddys girlYOU'VE heard of eyes like a hawk? Well, meet little Kelly Namakaoko'umakuahine Hawk, 6-month old daughter of public relations woman Aubrey Hawk and hubby Jeff. Aubrey has been on a six-month maternity leave from PRWorks and enjoying being a mommy, but said Kelly appears to be daddy's little girl. Still, her middle name means "The eyes of the mother," and they're hoping that turns out to be true since Jeff is all but legally blind ... And catching the eye of one of Hawk's clients, Donna Wheeler, of the Aston Waikiki Beachside Hotel were the initials "HRH" in front of one guest's name on the daily manifest. Sure enough, staying at the little boutique hotel was Her Royal Highness the Princess of Tonga. Princess Pilolevu Tuita, not one to stand on ceremony, was traveling with the smallest form of entourage -- just her lady-in-waiting ...
YOU know you're getting up there in age when you get birthday greetings from Diana Wiley Pietsch, a gerontologist who has a radio show called "Fifty-Plus & Fabulous!" Described as having "a show about successful aging," Wiley (as she's known professionally) just started the weekly program at 7 p.m. last Friday on KWAI, 1080 on the AM dial, with an opening theme of laughter and play. Tomorrow's show is on sexuality, which is her specialty as a board-certified sex therapist and sex educator. Her belief is, "You must use it or lose it," and that applies to one's sexuality as well. Wiley, who unbelievably is over 50, is the bride of Charlie Pietsch III ...

In addition, Melissa (who is 5-10 and weighs 110 pounds -- eat your hearts out, ladies) was named "Rising Model of 1997" by Top Model Magazine and will be featured in an upcoming issue. AFTER two successive issues with Diana, the Princess of Wales, on the cover of Time, guess who now stands alone on the current issue? Former Punahou student Steve Case, chairman of AOL, the Internet provider. Hawaii gets several mentions in the story including how Steve and his brother Dan sold lemonade on Oahu. They formed Case Enterprises, but it came apart when people were unwilling to buy Swiss watches from kids, 11 and 12.
CHEF Daniel Dufort is out as head of the kitchen at Michel's, and says new chef Ian Russo will be doing Pacific Rim cuisine rather than classic French. In fact, traditional French cuisine is all but dead in Hawaii and Dufort is reluctantly thinking of moving on, which would be Hawaii's loss ...
ALOHA Tower back in the 1940s and '50s was the scene of Boat Days and there were leis and lei-sellers aplenty on hand. But nothing like the lei that'll be on view there Saturday. Several hundred hula dancers will circle the base of Aloha Tower that day at 5:45 p.m. to celebrate the structure's 71st birthday. The human lei of aloha is being organized by dancer Iwalani Tseu, the tower's cultural advisor and the model who posed for the bronze hula dancer statue that is a popular backdrop for visitor snapshots ...
