WEDNESDAY

Teen crafts: Teens can socialize while creating art projects, 2:30 p.m. in the Teen Loft at Kalihi-Palama Public Library. Call 832-3466.

Make a mask: Ben Moffat presents "TRANSFORMATIONS: The Art of Masks," 6:30 p.m., Salt Lake/Moanalua Public Library. Call 831-6831.



SATURDAY

"Play House Fair": From 11 a.m.-5 p.m., the Honolulu Theatre for Youth will entertain with workshops, demonstrations, performances and crafts, Borders, Ward Warehouse.

At 11:30 a.m. participants will turn their bodies into various shapes, waves, surfboards and trees in a movement game titled "Twists, Turns and Transformations." At 1:30 p.m., children can hear what happens "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie." At 2:30 p.m., children will create their own stories.

Then, at 3:30 p.m., Moki the Gecko will arrive with his friend and author Bruce Hale to share two stories titled "Surf Gecko to the Rescue!" and "Moki and the Magic Surfboard." Call 591-8995.

"Aquarium After Dark": Find out what fishes do at night, 7-9 p.m. at the Waikiki Aquarium. Children must be 5 or older and accompanied by an adult. Cost: $7, adult; $6, children. Advance registration required. Registration forms available at the aquarium, 2777 Kalakaua Ave. or call 923-9741.



CONTESTS

Spelling bee: Children in grades 4 through 8 are welcome to register for the Hawaiian Spelling Bee being held 10 a.m.-noon Sept. 27, Ward Warehouse Amphitheater. Contestants will be required to spell and define Hawaiian words. Winner will receive a computer for his or her class and a class party. Limited to 20 participants. Registration forms available at 545-1771 (Oahu) or (800) 852-7690 (outer islands).
