"Kamau A'e": Three part-Hawaiian or Polynesian women age 25-40; one Caucasian woman age 25-40; one woman of any ethnicity age 25-40; four part-Hawaiian or Polynesian men age 25-40; one part-Hawaiian or Polynesian man age 50-70; one Japanese man age 50-70; and one mixed-local man aged 18-30 are needed for Alani Apio's play about a Hawaiian family's struggle to keep the land of their ancestors.

Auditions will be held 4-7 p.m. Sept. 7 and 6-10 p.m. Sept. 8, Kumu Kahua Theatre. Scripts available for loan with a $10 deposit at the theatre's office, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Rehearsals begin Sept. 14 and production begins Nov. 6. Information, 734-4268.

"Da Taming of Da Shrew": Pidgin-speakers, Shakespearean English and contemporary English speakers are wanted for director Glenn Cannon's play. Auditions will be held from 3:30-6 p.m. Sept. 9, 4:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 10 and 3:30-6:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the UH-Manoa, Earle Ernst Lab Theatre. Performances will run from Nov. 21-Dec. 7. Auditioners should prepare a couple of speeches from the characters, putting them into pidgin and/or contemporary language. Auditioners are also allowed to prepare a scene with other actors. "Getting Out": Windward Community College Players are holding auditions noon-4 p.m. Sept. 6; and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 7 in the college's Little Theatre.
