PLAY OF THE DAY: Defensive back Eddie Klaneski was forced to fill in at cornerback for the injured Robbie Robinson. What does he do? The first time he lines up at that spot since last year's season finale with Wisconsin, Klaneski comes up with an interception on a pass in the flat. Even if Robinson doesn't make it back this weekend, it's unlikely Klaneski would shift from free safety to corner.

INJURY REPORT: Outside linebacker Rufus Ayeni is listed as questionable for this weekend's game, but it's unlikely he will play. He has yet to practice since straining his left knee in last Thursday's scrimmage at Aloha Stadium. Receiver Jason Mane continues a remarkable comeback from his torn anterior cruciate ligament that occurred the first week of fall camp. Trainers aren't ruling out the possibility that he will play in next week's game with Cal State Northridge. Cornerback Ricky Lumford will undergo an MRI today for a neck strain he suffered in last Tuesday's scrimmage at Cooke Field. UH trainers say it's precautionary.

TRANSACTION WIRE: Jauron Pigg practiced with the scout team today. He expects to hear from the NCAA on his petition to play this season before the Minnesota game.

WEATHER REPORT: The Manoa mist kept the temperature acceptable during yesterday's practice at Cooke Field. The high on the turf of Cooke Field was in the low 90s.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "I don't know how bad it is, but I know it's not good."
