theater $20,000HAWAII Theatre supporters turned out in droves Thursday night for the opening of the $3 million Palomino Euro Bistro in Harbor Court. Palomino G.M. Mitch Dettloff gave theater director Sarah Richards and incoming board chairman Bob Midkiff a check for $20,000. All of the proceeds were donated to the theater by the Restaurants Unlimited chain. ON Kauai, it was Toyo Shirai Day and 66 golfers -- many of them learned golf from Shirai -- turned out to honor the respected linksman in a recent tourney. Shirai's most famous student, former Hawaiian Open champ David Ishii, played in Shirai's group. The tourney, a benefit to send Toyo and wife, Yoshie, to the U.S. Open next year in S.F., was played at Wailua.
