Waikiki woman’s
murder unsolved

What ever happened to the investigation into the murder of Edith Skinner, 81, who was strangled in her Waikiki apartment on July 25, 1989?

No arrests have been made and the investigation is still open, said Lt. Kenneth Ikehara of the Honolulu Police Department.

Skinner was found dead in her apartment by the resident manager of the state-owned Makua Alii high-rise building for senior citizens in Waikiki. Witnesses described seeing a man, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 19-25 years old, leaving Skinner's apartment the day her body was discovered. But police said that a suspect has yet to be positively identified.

Meanwhile, Steve Skinner continues to wait for an arrest in connection with his mother's murder. "Whoever did this needs to be brought to justice," he said.
