Contests
Win $1,000 in the Famous Poets Society free poetry competition. Poets must reside in Honolulu and poems must be no more than 21 lines.

The Hawaii Literary Arts Council is taking nominations for the Elliott Cades Award for Literature to be presented to poetry, drama, fiction or literary nonfiction writers.
Two awards will be given: one to a writer who has published a "significant body of work of exceptional quality" and the other to a writer who has "produced a small body of work showing unusual talent and promise."
Nominations, including a letter explaining why the person should be considered, and supporting materials must be send to: Cades Award Committee, HLAC, P.O. Box 11213, Moiliili Station, Honolulu, Hawaii 96828-0123. Deadline: Monday.
