Beer tasting: Sam Choy's Breakfast, Lunch and Crab is offering four pupu, a dessert and a taste of their five new beers, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday.

For $25, diners can enjoy "Bumbucha Stout," "Ehu Ale," "Bruddah's Cream Ale," "S-Team Lager" and "Skipper Sam's Hefe-Weizen." To top it off, a "real beer float" will be served for dessert. Reserve at 545-7979 by Friday.

Dishes from 3660 on the Rise: Chef Jim Gillespie shares his talents, 9:30-11:45 a.m. Saturday, Lyon Arboretum's Upstairs Classroom. Gillespie will prepare baked shrimp with roasted pepper tapenade, smoked ham and shrimp jus; cream of roasted garlic and potato soup with herb sausage; sauteed breast of chicken with walnut pesto; and lilikoi flan. "Tropical Fruits on Ice": Roy Yamaguchi shows the versatility of fruit in an encore presentation of "Hawaii Cooks With Roy Yamaguchi," 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on KHET/PBS.

Steakhouse to open: Outback Steakhouse opens with a benefit gala for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation-Hawaii Chapter, Aug. 25 at 1765 Ala Moana, formerly the Marina Theatres.

Partners Ed Wary of Auntie Pasto's, Rodeo Cantina and Dixie Grill; Roy Yamaguchi of Roy's; Shep Gordon; and managing partner Bruce Uitto will serve an array of entrees including filet mignon, prime rib, chicken and shrimp fettucine, barbecue ribs, sirloin, and chicken on the barbie with "Bloomin' Onion," dessert and wine.
