"Then and Now": Child and Family Services's CFS Family Center is looking for hospital memorabilia, including photographs, of the former Ewa Plantation Hospital to be part of their September display commemorating the hospital. Information, 543-8464.

Children's festival: Games, crafts, races, clowns, entertainment and magic and puppet shows are part of the Waikiki Community Center's second annual festival, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 2, Honolulu Zoo. The Honolulu Police Department will provide free keiki IDs and there will be various displays. Parents are asked to have their children's pediatrician's phone number on hand. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the food tents on the middle field. Admission (includes lunch): free for children under 2; $5 for children 2-12; and $8 for 13 and above. Book sale: Friends of the Waipahu Public Library's quarterly book sale, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 2, on the grounds of the Waipahu Public Library. Information, 675-0358.

"Swing Against Cancer": Donate $10 to the American Cancer Society and get two tickets for a designated par 3 hole on the front nine and a par 3 hole on the back nine. There will be three grand prizes for each participating golf course. Courses are: Pali and Ala Wai, Aug. 2-3; Pearl Country Club, Aug. 16-17; and Hawaii Kai Golf Course, Olomana Golf Links, Waikele Golf Club, and West Loch Golf Course, Aug. 23-24. "First Annual Hoops For Fun": Three-on-three basketball tournament, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 16, Hawaii Kai Towne Center. Special groups for ages 9-11, 12-14 and 15-17. Wheelchair participants are also encouraged to register. Registration deadline: Aug. 6. Registration forms available at any participating Hawaii Kai Towne Center merchant or any Koko Head Complex of the Parks and Recreation program. Cost: $40 for a three-player team. Golf tournament: National Association of Industrial and Office Properties' fifth annual charity tournament, Aug. 8, Mililani Golf Club. Shot gun start begins at 12:30 p.m. Cost: $300 for a three-man team. Register, 262-0909. Portion of the proceeds goes to Help, Understanding and Group Support (HUGS).

Line dancing: 5-9 p.m. Aug. 9, Kailua Elementary School Cafeteria. Cost: $5, children are free. Bring food and non-alcoholic beverages. Proceeds go toward the school's improvements. Information, 262-7441.

Kolokole Marathon: Fifteenth Annual Kolekole Pass Half Marathon, 6 a.m.; and six-mile walk, 7:30 a.m. Aug. 9, Watt Field at Schofield Barracks. Benefit for the American Cancer Society. "Mohala Ka Pua, Ua Wehe Kaiao": Second Annual Punana Leo O Maui Fashion Show, 5 p.m. Aug. 14, Wailuku Community Center. Designers include Sig Zane, Dondi Ho, Danene Manuheali'i and Kelly Hill. Entertainment by Amy Gilliom, Willie K., O'Brien Eselu and his halau, and the Hulu Lindsey Trio. Pupu and dessert buffets also available. Cost: $30 per person or $250 for a table of 10. Chili cookoff: Looking for teams for the 13th Annual Compadres South Pacific Chili Cookoff, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 14, Victoria Ward Parking Lot, behind KHON-TV. Team entry fee: $100. Proceeds go toward various Hawaii charities. Entry forms available at 591-8307.

"Wok For the Cure": Receive a free first dinner course at eight participating restaurants when purchasing a "Wok for the Cure" card for $88. Proceeds benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation-Hawaii Chapter. Participating restaurants and their "free" dishes are: Sam Choy's Diamond Head Restaurant, fried poke salad; Dynasty, medley of roast duck, pork tenderloin and shoyu chicken; Eastern Garden, imperial scallop soup; Golden Dragon, chicken-black mushroom pot stickers; Hee Hing, Chinese sashimi salad; Legends Seafood, fresh shrimp with fruit; Panda Cuisine, minced port, Chinese sausage on lettuce pockets; and Royal Garden, fried scallop on Chinese taro.
