George M. Clifford, 85, of Keauhou, Kona, a retired U.S. Navy captain and World War II carrier pilot, died Tuesday in Kona Community Hospital. He was also commanding officer at Moffett Field, Calif. Born in Washington, D.C., he is survived by wife Grace “Stevie”; son George Jr.; stepson Jean Doerr; stepdaughters Maile Jones and Diana Quaintance; and a granddaughter. Robert S. Holden, 88, of Kailua-Kona, the retired owner of a kitchen manufacturing and distribution company, died Tuesday at home. Born in Hebron, Neb., he is survived by wife Esta E.; son Robert B.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. No Hawaii services.

Leatrice R. Nakanishi, 69, of Honolulu, a retired clerk at First Circuit Court of Honolulu, died last Wednesday at home.
