"The Inn at Little Washington" comes to Lanai: Patrick O'Connell, co-owner of the inn, creates delicacies from the inn's cookbook, 3:30 p.m. Sunday, the Lodge at Koele on Lanai. "A Midsummer's Wine Dream": More than 100 wines will be available for tasting at event benefiting North Shore Surf and Cultural Museum. Brooklyn in Hawaii: Bernard's New York Deli has brought a little more of New York to Hawaii by offering Brooklyn Brewery beer. The four brews offered are Brooklyner Chocolate Stout, Brooklyn Lager, Brooklyn Brown Ale and Brooklyn East India Pale Ale. The micro-brewed beer was voted the best in the nation by "Consumer Reports."



CONTESTS

Poke wanted: Tuesday is the last day to enter your favorite poke recipe in the Sixth Annual Sam Choy Poke Festival. Contestants must mail entries by July 15.

The event, part of the Aloha Festivals, features Choy overseeing the recipes. Qualifying contestants will prepare their recipes at the following places: Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki, Aug. 9; Kukui Grove Center on Kauai, Aug. 16; and Maui Prince Hotel, Aug. 23. Winners from the qualifying contests will be invited to the Big Island to compete in the finals, Sept. 21, Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. Contestants must be at least 21 years old. Prizes will be awarded for Sam's Favorite Poke, Mayor's Poke Choice, Best Poke Recipe Using Tofu and Best Poke Using Macadamia Nuts. A separate contest will be held for celebrities.
