Selling a renewed Sheraton Kauai

Patricia V. Herman takes over as sales director for the Sheraton Kauai Resort, which is set to re-open Dec. 1 after a $40 million reconstruction project.

The renovated hotel will have 414 rooms, compared to 455 rooms when Hurricane Iniki hit in 1992. The new three-story concrete building also meets stronger county standards to survive hurricanes.

"We're still going to exude the Hawaiiana of the past and also integrate contemporary colors of today," Herman said.

She most recently was director of sales for Asia/Pacific at Hyatt Resorts Hawaii and also was director of international sales worked at the Westin Resorts Hawaii.

Herman started her career in 1973 at the Sheraton Waikiki and has won several special sales achievement awards.

She earned an associate degree in hotel management in 1975 from Kapiolani Community College.
