Film worker slaying
hasn’t been solved

What ever happened to the investigation of David Larry Walden, the film equipment rental worker who was gunned down in a parking lot near Pier 24 on April 16, 1994?

No one has been arrested in connection with the murder, and the investigation is continuing, said Lt. Allen Napolean of the Honolulu Police Department.

Walden was working for Star Suites Inc., a Kansas City-based company that was leasing film equipment to producers of the television series "Byrds of Paradise" when he was shot by two men, who witnesses said fled on a white sport motorcycle.

The investigation initially looked into a possible business dispute between film companies, a dispute linked to a series of violent episodes involving film production crews in Hawaii.

Don Hanna, owner of Star Suites Inc. and Walden's brother-in-law, continues to wait for the day an arrest will made.

"Obviously, we still hope the murder will be solved," he said.
