Los Angeles -- Trial in suit by Foodmaker restaurants against Vons Grocery Co. in connection with 1993 E-coli infections in Pacific Northwest that killed one and sickened hundreds.

Los Angeles -- Trial in suit against Carroll O'Connor by man who claims actor publicly blamed him for death of O'Connor's son.

Philadelphia -- Sentencing of John Bennett Jr., founder of bankrupt Foundation for New Era Philanthropy, in federal court.

Little Rock, Ark. -- Pretrial hearing for Whitewater figure David Hale, a former municipal judge accused of lying to state regulators about the solvency of his insurance business.

Pikeville, Ky. -- Sentencing for Morgan Thomas, who pleaded guilty to helping run a cross-country crank ring, U.S. District Court.

TUESDAY, July 8:

Madrid -- NATO summit. Through July 9.

Cleveland -- Major League Baseball's All-Star game.

West Helena, Ark. -- Scheduled end of 18-month boycott of city council meeting by black aldermen. City has operated under standstill budget since January 1996, when walkout began over conditions in predominantly black sections of the 10,000-person town.

WEDNESDAY, July 9:

Rome, Italy -- High Fashion week begins, through July 13.

Los Angeles -- Judge's decision likely at hearing in unprecedented request by city attorney for members of notorious 18th Street Gang to be barred from appearing publicly together in area considered their home turf.

Wenatchee, Wash. -- AFL-CIO president John Sweeney gives keynote address at Washington State Labor Council convention; also speaking, Arturo Rodriguez, international president of United Farm Workers. Continues through July 11.

Los Angeles -- O.J. Simpson turns 50.

THURSDAY, July 10:

Madrid -- President Clinton scheduled to depart Madrid, Spain, for Warsaw, Poland.

London -- General meeting of Eurotunnel shareholders to vote on new debt plan.

Avignon, France -- Opening of 51st Avignon Festival for performing arts. Through Aug. 2.

Erie, Pa. -- Annual meeting of Great Lakes Governors. Through July 11.

Fort Davis, Texas -- Republic of Texas leader Richard McLaren tentatively scheduled for arraignment.

FRIDAY, July 11:

Warsaw, Poland -- President Clinton scheduled to depart Warsaw for Bucharest, Romania.

Bucharest, Romania -- President Clinton scheduled to depart Bucharest for Copenhagen.
