CONTINUING

"Prom Queens Unchained": Manoa Valley Theatre takes you back to the 50s, 72 hours before senior prom, where an alien invader visits, a science student turns his right arm into a hamburger and a competition for the prom queen title exists. At 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 4 p.m. Sundays, through July 13. No performances on July 4. Cost: $24-$30. Reservations: 988-6131.

"Wild Meat and the Bully Burgers": Keith Kashiwada and John H.Y. Wat's adaptation of Lois-Ann Yamanaka's story of growing up in Hilo during the 1970s. At 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays, through July 13, except July 4; Kumu Kahua Theatre. Cost: $10-$15. Kumu Kahua Theatre classes: Learn the basics of playwriting, including dialogue, character development, structure and building scenes in Victoria Nalani Kneubuhl's "Playwriting" class, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturdays, July 5-Aug. 9. Cost: $95 for six classes.

Keith Kashiwada teaches a "Beginning Acting" class, 7-9:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, July 14-Aug. 13. Cost: $95 for 10 classes.

"Intermediate Acting" with John H.Y. Wat meets 7-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 15-Aug. 14. Cost: $95 for 10 classes.

"Grease": The Army Community Theatre is looking for nine males, eight females and extras for their production of this hit musical to run Sept. 4-20. "Forbidden Broadway Strikes Back": Brad Powell and John Alexander directs this 24-song musical consisting of 5 ensemble singers. Singers should have a versatile vocal range, be able to sing different musical styles, and be 20-years-old of older. Auditioners must bring own sheet music, be prepared to sing a Broadway show tune, and tell a joke with a 1 minute length maximum. Accompanist provided. Oahu Choral Society: Looking for experienced singers for its second season. The society will be performing with the Honolulu Symphony. Works include Mahler Second Symphony, the Poulenc Gloria, Messiah and Carmina Burana by Karl Orff. The society will also perform lighter Broadway pieces. All voice parts open.
