SUNDAY

"Keiki Time": Children 3 months to 3 years and their parents enjoy introduction to sea creatures, a tour of galleries, a story, playtime and snack, 9-10:30 a.m. July 6 and Aug. 3, Waikiki Aquarium. Cost: $12 per parent/child team, $5 each additional adult. Register by mail. Call 923-9741.

"Grinds For the Mind": 1997 young adult statewide summer reading program for teens entering grades 7-12. Teens receive weekly incentives for books read through July 26. Register at a public library and fill out reading logs. Statewide end-of-program prizes include Pearlridge Shopping Spree drawings of $1,000, $500 and $250. Neighbor island winners will be flown in.

"Read ... Let Your Mind Soar!": 1997 children's statewide summer reading program for children who will be in preschool through sixth grade in the fall. Adults may read aloud to children in preschool through second grade.Weekly incentives with special programs at public libraries. Register at a public library. Through July. Information at 586-3620.

SNAP: Summer Nature Adventure Program for young explorers who want to hike, do science experiments, nature crafts and more. Classes are held from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday at the Hawaii Nature Center. On Oahu: Session I is for 6- to 7-year-olds (5-year-olds accepted if they completed kindergarten) July 28-Aug. 1 for $125, Session II is for 7- to 9-year-olds Aug. 4-8 for $125, Session III is for 9- to 11-year-olds Aug. 11-15 for $150 (includes Friday night campover and breakfast Saturday). On Maui: 6- to 7-year-olds July 14-18 for $125; 9- to 10-year-olds July 28-Aug. 1 for $150 (includes Friday night campover and breakfast Saturday). Children's theater: Act One has two summer programs filled with games, theater techniques, comedy routines, acting, vocal training and dancing. Classes at Kailua Intermediate School and Le Jardin Academy. Information at 261-0457.

Learn to swim: Children ages 4-14 can learn to swim in American Red Cross' free program, 8:45-10 a.m. Saturdays, through July 26, Ala Moana Beach Park, lifeguard stand 1E, next to Magic Island parking lot. Call 739-8108.
