Going, gone...

Mary Steiner of the Outdoor Circle stands in front of the banyan
tree in the parking lot of the old Pawaa Police Station, nee
Sears store. The group was hoping to stop efforts to "top" the
100-year-old banyan to a 20-foot height and move it.
Their efforts were moot, below, when tree trimmers
started cutting the banyan this morning.
