Richard Sheldon is clear about priorities for the 230 employees at BHP Hawaii's Campbell Industrial Park refinery. A refined sense of priority
"The first thing you have to consider is the safety of the people at the plant; the second thing is running the refinery in an environmentally sound way, and third, you have to make money --in that order," Sheldon said.
He has more than 30 years of experience in refining with Amoco Corp., and recently was business manager of Amoco's refinery in Whiting, Ind.
At BHP, Sheldon watches over the refinery and the 20-member marine operations department, which includes a mooring for oil tankers off Barbers Point.
He earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Chicago.
