OSOSweet Onions
Sweet onions, thickly sliced, make a good
base for a pasta sauce.

Maui onions are
a sweet treat

Add the sweet crunchiness of Maui onions to Father's Day poke, lomilomi and pasta. The Upcountry globes are a best buy at 98 cents a pound at Daiei, and 99 cents at Star Markets.

Other best buys include new-crop California red plums for 57 cents a pound at Sack N Save, and fresh tomatoes for 89 cents at Foodland. Also, reel in ahi tombo and nairagi marlin fillet for $3.98 a pound at Daiei and aku fillet for $3.99 at Star.

Then, parlay those farm-fresh Maui onions and tomatoes into a zesty pasta dish for dad.
