CONTINUING

"A'ala Park": Twenty year-old Manny wants to "get off this rock" and make a better life for himself and his girlfriend in this portrayal of a working-class family living in the 1950s. "The Bad Seed": ASATAD presents the story of Rhoda Penmark which explores the controversial possibility that evil is genetic. At 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 4 p.m. Sundays, through June 22. Cost: $10-$15. Call 247-6939.

"Crazy For You": Bobby Childs, a young banker heads West to foreclose on a rundown theatre. After landing in the sleepy cow town of Deadrock, Nev., he falls in love with Polly Baker, the theatre owner's daughter, and vows to turn Deadrock into a theatrical Mecca. A Gershwin extravaganza filled with song and dance and Ken Ludwig's hilarious dialouge. At 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and 4 p.m. Sundays, May 16 through June 8, Diamond Head Theatre. "Wishes & Wings": An animated musical adventure for the whole family. The production will introduce several of Hawaii's endangered species including the monk seal, green sea turtle and Pu'eo. DANCE

Iona Pear Dance Theatre: Contemporary dance drawn from mythologies and Butoh's inverted sense of reality. Company's performance series will conclude with the premiere of a new work "Hawaiian Myths and Legends" 8 p.m. May 30-31, and 4 p.m. June 1, Hawaii Theatre. Cost: $20-$30. "Holo Mai Pele": Epic dance drama tells of the travels of sisters Pele and Hi'iaka from the Big Island to Kauai, May 30 and 31 at Kahilu Theatre Call 1-808-885-6017.

"Dances at an Exhibition": Queen Emma Ballet presents dances by guests artists and the 140 children of Queen Emma Ballet, 8 p.m. May 31, and 2 p.m. June 1, Leeward Community College. Artists include Allegra Mia Lillard, former principal dancer with the Oregon Ballet Theater. Live music by child performers of the Fong Piano Studio, and art exhibition by students of Dr. Lori Phillips. Tickets: $8-$10. Proceeds go toward the Queen Emma Ballet's capital improvements fund. SPECIAL

Original play festival: The Aloha Performing Arts Center are accepting scripts for their fourth annual original play festival. Entries can be on any subject and any length but they should not have been produced before. Plays selected will be given royalty-free staged readings in August at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu. The selected plays will also be publicized as part of the festival. To enter, submit two typewritten copies of each entry with name, address and phone number clearly visible on the first page of each entry. Send entries to: APAC Original Paly Festival, P.O. AUDITIONS

Oahu Choral Society: Looking for experienced singers for its second season. The society will be performing with the Honolulu Symphony. Works include Mahler Second Symphony, the Poulenc Gloria, Messiah and Carmina Burana by Karl Orff. The society will also perform lighter Broadway pieces. All voice parts open.
