History in the Making

Honolulu yesterday on the last leg of her historic flight. Finch
landed in Oakland, Calif., this morning, completing a 28,500-mile
round-the-world flight that Earhart attempted 60 years ago but
never finished. At bottom, a final wave as the plane taxis to the
runway. Hundreds of well-wishers greeted Finch on touchdown at
Oakland airport, from where she had set out on March 17.
The 2,400-mile, Honolulu-Oakland leg of Finch's
journey took about 15 hours.
