I am going to Hong Kong after its reversion back to China on July 1. I know you don't need a visa now to enter, but no one is able to tell me for certain if I will need one after July 1. I've called several travel agencies, airlines and the passport office here and have so far been unsuccessful in reaching Chinese consulates on the mainland. Can you help? China will not require
a visa for Hong KongHong Kong becomes a "special administrative region" on July 1 and the Hong Kong SAR Government may apply immigration control on entry, stay and departure from the region. However, "the existing visa policy has served Hong Kong well and the Hong Kong government does not see a need for any significant change in the near future," according to S.L. Wong, director of immigration in Hong Kong.

My complaint is about the private refuse company that keeps picking up trash at a restaurant at Rycroft and Keeaumoku streets as early as 5:35 a.m. on any given day. I live in the nearby Sandalwood condominium. The city says I live in a residential area and that trash pickup should be after 6 a.m. Can you help resolve this problem? an Because it involves a commercial refuse company, the state Department of Health's noise and radiation branch is the place to contact (586-4700).
"When it comes to actual enforcement, it requires the joint effort of our staff and the police department, said branch chief Jerry Haruno. His staff will monitor the noise level to confirm the garbage collection is exceeding allowable noise standards.
The 6 a.m. time was set because heavy vehicles, especially refuse trucks, can't comply with the night noise standards, which are much lower than daytime standards. Six a.m. is the dividing line.
After receiving a complaint, "initially, we will call the company and ask that they pick up after 6 a.m.," Haruno said. "If the problem persists, then we will contact the police department."
